The Bank
Queen size bed Accommodation

Formally the Bank of New South Wales, nestled under trees and surrounded by its own flower beds at Komako Peonies and Cottage Garden Accommodation, The Bank offers a luxurious queen size bed. The interior is tastefully decorated in neutral and earthy tones with the large picture window screened by net drapes to afford maximum light and privacy.

This is called The Bank for the simple reason it was part of a bank that many, many years ago was once in the main street of Waipiata. In the 1800s and early 1900s rabbit meat was popular with New Zealanders and rabbit pelts sought after for garments and other uses, so it's no stretch of the imagination to imagine the bank busy with rabbiters depositing their earnings from supplying local rabbit processing plants.

What was the Jones Rabbit Factory still stands and is easily recognised as the concrete buildings alongside the Rail Trail just north of the Waipiata station site.

Guest facilities in The Clematis Room include electric blankets, quality bed linen, feather duvet, heating, etc
